carpeting a room
fitting carpet in a room take up all the old carpet and underlay if not re-using the underlay check the gripper rods if these look o.k and have no signs of rust then they should be o.k . make sure the the subfloor is clean and tidy if not you will need to repair them. after you have cheched that the sub floor is siund you can start to fit the underlay
Always use a good quality underlay cloud 9 is a good option, make sure the underlay is the correct way up the start to pin of the underlay with a staple hammer Cut the underlay right next to the gripper rods using a Stanley knife push your knife through the underlay until you can feel the gripper rods and cut use as much pressure as required once you have followed all the steps you are now ready to fit your carpet
un-roll the carpet in the room making sure you are happy that if fits everywhere Trim down the carpet where possible. Now find a straight wall to start the fitting to start fitting you will need a stanley knife stretcher and a bolster bend the excess carpet over and where the carpet bends is where you will cut start of slowly always checking your line as this takes a bit of practice using the bolster tuck the carpet down
using a stretcher stretch the carpet to the opposite wall make sure the carpet has hooked on to the gripper Cut the carpet in the same way as the first wall. Apply the same method to the remaining wall always remembering to stretch into doorways and away from radiators. Where possible stretch the carpet as much as possible before cutting because stretching can move the carpet quite a lot if in doubt seek the advice of a professional carpet fitter
